I hate using the automated checkers at the grocery. Makes me nuts. Never under any circumstances have I found them to be faster than a human grocery store clerk.
However, I’ve found a single instance in which they are superior to a human.
From time to time I end up with large bills. Every now and again I wind up with a $100 bill. Nobody will take a $100 bill. Stopping in a casino somewhere is a pain in the ass, and the grocery clerks won’t take a bill that big. But the automated checker will!!
For some reason it always feels like money laundering.
